Background:	glnB is the Nitrogen regulatory protein P-II (GlnB) in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. It is a central signal transduction protein that senses the cellular carbon/nitrogen (C/N) balance by competitively binding ATP or ADP and 2 oxoglutarate (2-OG). It regulates inorganic carbon and nitrate uptake, nitrogen assimilation, and fatty acid biosynthesis. The protein is localized to the cytosol and is also found associated with the plasma membrane.
